We are looking for a dynamic, analytical Assembly Manufacturing Engineer with solid hands-on experience in automated manufacturing. In this role, you will be the end-to-end technical owner of engine assembly processes: from workstation design, line balancing, and bottleneck reduction (JPH / Takt Time), to parameter optimization for critical processes such as servo pressing, automated liquid sealant dispensing (RTV), leak testing, and error-proofing systems (Poka-Yoke). Process Design and Optimization: Define, implement, and improve operational flow, standard work methods, and tooling across engine assembly lines, ensuring adherence to Takt Time and production cadence (JPH). Critical Powertrain Process Control: Automated Silicone / Sealant Dispensing (RTV): Parameterize and audit robotic dispensing cells (Nordson / SCA / Fanuc / ABB), maintaining control over path trajectories, bead geometry, and open time. Servo Presses: Monitor and calibrate Force vs. Displacement signature curves (Promess, Kistler) for the insertion of bushings, freeze plugs (core plugs), and dowel pins. Leak Testing: Validate and fine-tune pressure-decay or helium leak test stations across lubrication, coolant, and fuel circuits. Ergonomics and Standardized Work: Design safe workstations utilizing zero-gravity manipulators and ergonomic tooling in compliance with corporate safety standards (FAS 08). Develop and maintain Operator Instruction Sheets (OIS / JES / SOS). Defect Prevention and APQP: Lead and update station PFMEAs, designing mechanical and electronic error-proofing systems (Poka-Yoke)—such as vision inspection sensors and pick-to-light arrays—to safeguard critical safety characteristics (Inverted Delta ∇). Engineering Change Management: Plan and execute plant trial runs (PTR) on the shop floor for new component introductions, design modifications (WERS), or model-year changes without disrupting operational continuity. Structured Problem Solving: Actively drive root cause analysis (8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, DMAIC) to address quality escapes, functional test failures (Cold/Hot Test), or line micro-stoppages. Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a Professional License (Cédula Profesional) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Work Experience: 3 to 5+ years of proven experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer on automotive assembly lines (highly desirable in engine assembly / powertrain, transmissions, or high-precision mechanical components). Language Proficiency: Advanced / Fluent English (B2+ to C1). Essential for coordinating pilot runs with product design teams (Powertrain D&R in Dearborn) and international equipment manufacturers.
