Role Summary
This role exists to close the gap between how business teams track performance — ad-hoc HTML snapshots, Excel models, Python scripts shared over email — and what those teams need: reliable, interactive web consoles connected to authoritative data sources and maintainable over time.
You will work directly with business leaders across functions to understand what they measure, why it matters, and how it is currently computed. You will then build the tooling that makes those measurements repeatable, auditable, and accessible. Engagements range from revenue forecasting to operational coverage to pipeline analytics to financial close dashboards — whatever the business needs to run well.
The right candidate is a strong analytical thinker who is willing to grow into the technical depth the role requires. Business and financial acumen come first. The engineering follows.
Core Responsibilities
Work directly with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs: what metrics matter, how they are currently computed, what the edge cases are, and where the existing process breaks down
Deconstruct existing ad-hoc artifacts — HTML reference outputs, Excel models, Python scripts — into explicit, documented business logic that can be implemented cleanly in code
Surface ambiguities and inconsistencies in existing methodology before they become bugs (e.g., mismatched client identifiers across systems, scope filter disagreements, rounding discrepancies)
Translate business questions (“why did this number change by $X between last month and this month?”) into traceable, explainable answers
Design and maintain BigQuery tables that serve as canonical data layers for business metrics: actuals, pipeline, targets, operational KPIs, as well as write SQL transformations that replace or replicate business logic currently living in ad-hoc scripts, making it auditable and reproducible.
Validate computed outputs against authoritative source systems — Salesforce, SAP, and other official platforms — on recurring cycles (monthly, quarterly). Build and maintain data quality checks that surface upstream anomalies before they propagate to dashboards. Own quality end-to-end: validate computed values against reference data, write tests for critical business logic, and maintain documentation that non-technical stakeholders can follow
Use Claude Code as a core development tool: AI-assisted coding is a first-class part of how this work gets done, not a shortcut around understanding
Required Qualifications
3–5 years in financial analysis, business operations, FP&A, management consulting, or a similar analytically rigorous role
Strong numeracy and comfort with financial concepts: P&L structure, pipeline and coverage metrics, rate-based forecasting, period-over-period comparisons
Demonstrated ability to read and understand someone else’s analytical model — whether in Python or SQL — and reason about whether the logic is correct
Working SQL knowledge: joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs; ability to write queries from scratch against unfamiliar schemas
